From undergraduates just embarking on their first research journeys to tenured professors of the highest caliber, the Office of the Vice President for Research works to ensure the richest and most effective research experience for all of Carolina's scholars.
A core component of our mission at the Office of Research is creating an environment that supports the scholarly and creative activities of all faculty and students. Our various research support offices help researchers prepare and submit proposals for external funding, work ethically with human and animal subjects, identify funding opportunities, manage data and successfully complete the other steps involved in the research process.
The Office of the Vice President for Research is made up of several units, including Animal Resources and Facilities, IT and Data Management, Research Compliance, Undergraduate Research, Research and Grant Development, Sponsored Award Management and Research Cyberinfrastructure (RCI reports to the USC Office of Information Technology, and partners with our office).
USC's researchers and research administrators have access to a variety of resources to help them achieve their goals at every stage from locating funding opportunities to completing, submitting and processing proposals and getting the support necessary to conduct research projects.
Postdoctoral scholars find themselves in a unique position: having completed their student experience, they have an opportunity to explore and develop their research goals, gain teaching experience and prepare for the next step into faculty positions. The Office of the Vice President for Research is proud to serve as the advisory office for the USC Postdoctoral Association.
